Wanna Watch Theatre? Read This First…

At Malaysia, when people talk about theatre, there are several things that come across their minds. A group pf actor and actress acting on the stage, closed place, formal attire (especially at Istana Budaya… opps, sorry!), cannot-afford ticket and most importantly… boring!
When we look back during Greek period, especially for Athenians, theatre served as an expression of public unity. It is attended by all men. To attend the theater, then, was a religious duty and the responsibility of all pious citizens. Theatre then, served as a celebration of God, during The Festival of Dionysus a ritual to honor the god of wine and fertility and to ask his blessing on the land.
Coming back to reality, especially for Malaysian, there is nothing to scare about watching theatre. It is meant for all; just choose any kinds of theatre. From tragic tragedy, funny comedy or lovely love stories, everything is just in your hands. It is all there to serve for your appetite. Like watching movies at cinemas, it can be a therapy for anybody, even for kids. Unlike watching movies at cinemas, theatre allows you to see real man, physically, in front of you, acting. To increase your excitement, certain theatre also allows you to take part in the play itself! How fun isn’t it?
So allow me to welcome you to the theatre. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

I am attracting with Nurulain view about theatre those days and nowadays. Here, I would to stress that I really agree about her opinion. She stated that theatre has changed a lot all this decade. In addition theatre has become a tradition in many countries in this world. It is true as we can see many theatre hall has been built around the world. All of them have complete equipments that can make a play excellent and exciting.
However, the changes in theatre are not my interest. Ain stated that between those days and nowadays, the type of audience come to theater also changed. Those days, everybody can go to the theatre no matter what class of society they were from. They just been specialized by the sit in the theatre but still they can went and watch it freely. As for nowadays, we have to pay amount of money to watch theatre. In Malaysia for instance, we have to pay a ticket which is very expensive and cannot be afford by students. Sometimes after paying that much, the play is not exciting at all. These really create disappointment.
As a result, the interest in theatre will slowly smash away because they do not have the opportunity to feel what real theatre is. This really make me upset because I myself love to watch theatre but still do not have the opportunity to enjoy it. I just have view about one play in my reading. Our government who decide literature as one of the subject, but they do not think about this problem at all. If the students come from a rich family, then it is ok. But what happened to students who come from middle and lower class society? How can the interest come to them? Think it yourself…
