Having learnt theatre last semester made me realize that I do like acting. It feels so good to be somebody else. And guess what, maybe I like to be under the limelight too! Hehehe…
Well, acting as Maya, computer hacker really thrilled me. Being in other person’s shoe is not easy. And I have to admit until now; I can’t really be into the character. It is not easy, especially for those who hates pretenders and hate to be one. Voice projection is another thing. This thing called voice projection really challenged me. It is important you know, especially for teachers, if you wish to be heard in class. Or else, your students will fall asleep (just like me). However, you should note that, do not always use high note/ pitch voice. Or else, you will end up having tonsil. And DO NOT PRACTICE MONOLOGUE. Or else, you will end up talking alone in the class.

A lot of things happened for the past two weeks. Yeah, the holiday have started, and we are supposedly having some nice and relax holiday. Sometimes I hope it will be mine, but a lot of holidays will bore you (maybe to death).
Right now, I’m handling tuition for my neighbor’s kids. Four of them and all of them are in primary school. Frankly, I don’t know what to teach. It is not my area of study and what’s more to teach BM and Math! What I can see from both BI and BM textbook is that it is not very useful (sorry to say). Because our education system is too exam oriented, I think the textbook just don’t help the kids. It is better for them to buy workbooks. Because, it their parents want to teach them using textbook, they will ponder how to teach them (just like me).
Anyway, that’s the challenge that I face right now, and I have to do it.

examination week
just like any other students in any place (as long as you are still called student), definitely you HAVE TO sit for examination. plus, our country is very well known for exam-oriented study. well, that's not a big story. what i want to share to all of you is whom i met two days ago. after my councelling test, we went out to mid valley. yeah, what a boring place. the, we went to klcc. after spending almost one hour in our favourite shop- Kinokuniya and spent almost all our our money there, we want to withdrawl our money.
because the atm machine is at C level, so we decided to use lift. guess whom did i met in the lift???? DATUK SITI NURHALIZA BINTI TARUDIN!!!!
well, she is not as tall as what i think, average malay women. however, i have to admit that she is very pretty, fair complexion, flawless skin and kind hearted. suddenly at that i time i imagined how and what will happen if she becomes the lift guard. maybe many people will go to klcc and use the lift just to see her. just like if she becomes a police officer. many people(especially men) will be more than willing to get a traffic ticket from her.
well, it just a matter of luck to see and be with her in the same lift.
at least, i won't be ashamed if poeople asked me if i ever met any famous people when i stay at upm. just a few famous people...

after a long break...
it is not that kind of lazy, comfortable break. it is a hectic and lots of things to do... campus life, student's life... actually, i don't have much time to blog. right now, i'm downloding full text of the awakening by kate chopin.as i don't have a copy of it, i have to do this. what to do... if don't do this, i won't be able to answer my exam questions.

We Are The ANGELS!!!!
' We are the CHAMPION my friends....'And really we are...
Yesterday we have a tournament (or match actually) with other groups. Well, yesterday was a very sunny day and all of us are exhausted and tired. To play handball is not esay but we did it. Beside we have advantage. Some of our players actually have experience playing handball and become representative at maktab.

Although we are seperated into two groups, both groups did not loose. Angels 1 won the FIRST Place. Angels 2 although did not win any, they still win The Best Supporter of the day.CHEERS AND HURRAH FOR ANGELS!!!!

STUPID DAY!!!
What will you feel if the only class that you have for that day is cancel? Of course you must be very extremely happy. But, what happen if you only know it when you are on the way to class? You will definitely upset. That is what I feel today. And to make it worst, this is not the first time. Since last semester this lecturer had taught us. She did the same thing last semester. Ok, fine, we forgive her.
But this semester she did it again!!! Last week she did it too. How difficult for us to go to her class (because we have to change buses), she just call it off. Just imagine how we work very hard just for her subject. With blood, tears and sweat. This semester also we have coined a new term "Educational Hazard". Don't you think that only occupational hazard exist. There is such thing as EDUCATIONAL HAZARD.

Hurray! HuRray! It's A HoLi - HolDay!
well... class is over!!! for almost six days i'm free. but... (there's always but) a lot of things need to be done. three lesson plans. for co-curriculum, for speaking, and last but not least novel. need to memorise the script..... huh, it is not a holiday actually.
well at least this is the time where i can sleep tightly at my own bed (i miss my bed!), eat what my mum cook (i hate cooking) and ... well you know what i mean. you do the same thing too right?
i think it's time for me to go to bed. my YM partner have a big event tomorrow. so he need to go to bed now. and so do i.... hehe :)

Hectic Lifestyle (pt 2)
well, another hectic lifestyle again. this time, for this week, i have three mid term test. well, it is not that bad actually, if you study. however, this particular semester, i fell very tired compared to previous. this semester, i have to dance. several weeks ago, ryhtm and movement and yesterday, bird dance. i don't know how i look like when i'm dancing. as far as i concern, it is all for academic purposes. no more, no less. well, have to go now. i have to find information bout my lesson paln for 2 subjects. see ya!

Wangi Jadi Saksi
Last two nights, I went to Auditorium Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) to watch a theatre, 'Wangi Jadi Saksi' directed by a marvellous director, U-Wei HjShaari.
It was a remarkable theatre. Unlike Flagrante Delicto who put the whole company on the stage (rombongan che kiah ke TAS@BSC), U-Wei just need 7 actors (plus 1 actor who played as Hang Jebat for matinee performance) to make his dream come true. Of course he select the best actors for his play. His charima is unquestionable. Vanidah Imran who acted as Dang Wangi had proven she is worth as an actress.
I don't think that I should say much about this play. Just look at the casts
Well, now I'm waiting to watch 'Sax and Phone' next year which is also directed by U-Wei. I'm sure that it will be an unforgottable film.

Watching Theatre Again...
Last week, I watched theatre again with my friends, the title of the play is 'Flagrante Delicto' which means, 'the act of commiting crime'. After all, this is not the best theatre I ever watch. basically I had watch three plays:
First- Puteri Gunung Ledang The Musical (Istana Budaya)
Second-Up, Standing, and ... Coming (Actors Studio)
Third- Flagrante Delicto
Coming Up Next- Wangi Jadi Saksi (Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka)-TODAY!!!
So far, Falgrante Delicto is THE WORST play I ever watch. It is not worthy to watch this play, feels like being cheated.
The best music score, I have to say, PGLM is the best. Stephen Rahman's acting is noting. Even AC Mizail is much more better then him. His pronunciation of Malay word is such a disaster. If you look at the poster, you can see that he does not have the passion towards his partner/ lover. It is a love story afterall, and he does not show that he is truly, madly, deeply in love!
For Up, Standing, and ... Coming, I have to say that both of the actors are doing extremly good! Both of them are strong enough to stand on stage, just two of them. There is no time left for you to feel bored. The feeling is just like watching Baik Punya Cilok. You just cant stop laughing.
Tonight, I'm going to watch Wangi Jadi Saksi. From what I heard from my friends, this play is good enough and you will not feel being betrayed.
So, I hope that that I will have fun tonight!!

This is the fourth week of the semester. and i'm dying!!! Lots of things need to be look at at, read, care etc., etc. ...
What a life! From one semester to another, I think my life at UPM is getting worst. Not only because of my studies but also at the college. Life at K12 is very demanding. Need to collect merits, have to attend this and that... they just don't care if you have classess, and dying. I'm really, really drained last week. This week, it does not have any difference. Out of the blue moon, I suddenly realised that I got EYEBAGS!!! Not enough sleep. When I looked at the mirror, I can see a reflection of a panda. That's not good, and it is not funny at all.
Next week, I have two mid-semester test. Another test...
Life is just getting complicated, either you like it or not, you have to bear with it. Never think of taking your own life, although you think your life is miserable. If the time haven't come, definitely you won't die. You just make your life worst and burden other people around you, especially your parents.
Head straight, and walk with pride.

Laman 2006
18th July, 2006. The last day of The Malaysia International Landscape & Garden Festival with the theme ‘The Oasis of Beauty’. I went there with my sister and her friend. It is exciting since that’s the first time I go there. And it’s tiring too… Really too tired that night. Walking all around looking at the flowers is exciting, but because I’m not a die hard fan (kipas-susah-mati) of flowers, so the excitement is not as much as my sister. In fact, sometimes I hate flowers, but exceptional for tulips. I loooove tulips. For me, it symbolises simplicity, toughness and beauty. What makes me so proud is, Johor won three golden awards and one silver award! We also found Rosyam Nor there who become a judge for ‘canting’ competition.

The final is just around the corner!!! Well, although I’m not a football maniac, but still I follow the news about it. So, for the final, which team will you support? I choose FRANCE!!! Most of you, I’m pretty sure that you’ll support Italy but for me, I still support France because of my favourite player, Zinedine Zidane. After all, he is going to ‘pencen….’ after this world cup (cawan dunia?) Aiyo.. so kesian. Anyway, I wish all the best for France!

Holiday's Grinch (Pt 2)
Actually, I already find out why I hate holidays. It is because of my childhood memory. I can still remember when I was in Standard 2. After school break, I'm in my language class (I can't remember either it is Bahasa or English). My teacher asked us about our holiday. Then she began to talk about family vacations, go here and there, do this and that. Some of my friends even told us what kind of vacations that they had.
I AM VERY DEPRESSED! School holiday actually means nothing to me. No vactions, no nothing. Stay at home, do household chores, finising my homeworks, watch tv, eat bla, bla, bla.... It is just like ordinary days, like weekends. HOLIDAYS MEANS NOTHING TO ME.
Then the teacher asked us to write a composition entitled 'My School Break Activity'. And I wrote what actually I did. Years after years. Then only I begin to tell lies. Lies about school break... I start to write activities during school break that I actually do not do at all.
The point is, not every students are fortunate. So teachers out there I hope there will be no more composition about 'My School Break Activity'.
As for me, I will be a teacher in future. I promised to myself that I will not ask my students to write that kind of composition, although they really wants to write it. No-No. There will be no composition about 'My School Break Activity' in my class.

Holiday's Grinch
Everybody knows about The Grinch. He hates Christmast. Almost on the same side of The Grinch, i hate holidays! Why??? I have been thinking about it for the past several years. It seems this year I found the answer. Well, I do not mean ordinary school holidays. It is okay for me (at least during my schoolday!). What I mean is semester break where you people always plan this and that, go here and there, do this and that, or work.
But I do not have this opportunity for several reasons...
The most important thing that makes me hate holiday is because most of the time my mind is not occupied or in other words, thinking. During lecture, most of the time I will think, plan. At least I made my mind occupied, but during holdays, it seems everything goes slowly... so sleepy... I think that's it. Why I hate HOLIDAY!!!

I'm Back!!!!
almost a month i havent send any post to my blog. well, i'm quite busy with examinations. after my last paper, me and my friends went to melaka to attend MICELT'06. well, i can say it is a beautiful, marvellous experience that i swear that i will never forget. oh God! how i wish that i could attent all workshops and parallels. the speakers are damn good. if i ever get the opportunty again to attent MICELT, i certainly will do. no matter how much i must pay, i will. because the knowledge that i gained from this conference could not be find anywhere else.
i will come back, writing in this blog. this is the place where i can express myself. although the titl eof this blog is wha's drama?, i dont think it is not suitable. because our life is like a drama. i'll quote what Shakespeare said in my next post. i'm in a hurry to find notes for next semester.

Blanche’s Desired World
“Whoever you are, I always depend on the kindness of strangers”.
A memorable character, Blanche DuBois is an example of a downfall of a high position woman. She is described as moth, butterfly and canary bird; Blanche for me is a delicate and fragile character. Maybe that is what Tennessee Williams ought to try to tell his audiences. Or maybe, that is how he portrays female characters in his play. I had read one of his plays before, ‘The Glass Menagerie’. In that play, he also presents a female character, Amanda as fragile as her glass menagerie collections.
Blanche prefers magic, not reality. She is afraid of straight light until she has to cover up the lamp with a paper lantern. This shows to us how insecure she feels in real world. She does not tell the truth, instead, what ought to be true. She wants everything to be pleasant, beautiful and good in front of her eyes.

An Afternoon With Phui Nam
“Poems are meant to be read aloud.”
That is what Dr. Edwin always said in class, especially during simulated teaching. And that is what Wong Phui Nam said too. The opportunity to meet the writer of ‘Anike’ is a golden opportunity not to be missed.
Reading his text, ‘Anike’ and his poem ‘Bukit China’, I already made up my mind that he may be somebody who is ‘big’. But my assumption is proven wrong when I meet him. Standing in front of me, less than one meter, he is just a simple man, might be because his profession as an economist.
In the meeting, he told us some strategies on how to read poem, which I am not going to discuss here.
His poem, ‘Bukit China’ (which I read and study during Malaysian Literature course) is rather difficult to understand. His description and diction made me become a bottom-up reader.
However, when I read ‘Anike’, the same thing does not happen. Maybe because I prefer to read drama compared to poem. Besides, my perception about poem is it is difficult to understand, except only the writer and God knows its meaning.
Anyway, I enjoy meeting him and read his latest work, ‘Anike’.

Pygmalion basically is derived from Metamorphosis by Ovid. It is about a sculptor who falls in love with his perfect female statue. He creates the sculpture because he cannot find a girl who suits his taste. The main idea in this play was brilliantly adapted by Shaw in Pygmalion. The main idea is the creation of new person, in Pygmalion’s case, to transform a cockney flower girl into a duchess.
Reading Pygmalion is exciting enough, what’s more watching it. This opportunity does not come everyday in our life. The fact is that, although someone is trained or learned something new, it does not change you totally, hundred percent. There will be something that you have or inherit which will never be changed through out your life.
Watching this film also reminds me to ‘Educating Rita’ by Willy Russel. It is about a woman who wants to change her life through education. From this two plays, I can say that most people see education as a way out to improve and change our life to be a better person, at least or maybe to be in the higher position.

Macbeth’s Brief Candle
Life’s Brief Candle
To-morrow, and to-morrow, and to-morrow,
Creeps in this petty pace from day to day
To the last syllable of recorded time,
And all our yesterdays have lighted fools
The way to dusty death. Out, out brief candle!
Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player,
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more; it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.
Watching Macbeth is terrifying. From the beginning, where the three witches bury a hand until the end of the film. This film is not suitable for those under eighteen years old and those who are afraid of blood and violence.
Almost many people know about Macbeth (or at least have heard about it). What I want to talk about here is the symbolism used in this play. The first scene, where the three witches bury a hand symbolises sins done by Macbeth and his wife, Lady Macbeth. It is also foreshadow the later scene where we will see Macbeth kills the King, who is also his cousin. His envy towards the King’s son made him become a murderer. Here, the role of Lady Macbeth reflects the ability of a woman to make a man at his peak of stardom or at the lowest level. I am not trying to say that all female are bad (because I am a girl too).
Now, the issue about hand, which symbolises Macbeth and his wife sins also parallel to another play, A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams. Blanche DuBois is always taking bath or washing her hair. Like Lady Macbeth who always wash her hand.
These action is reflecting their desire to wash off their past sins, but unable to do so because they always been haunted by it.
So, the end of Macbeth’s life is very terrifying. I do not want to write here how he died, because all of us had watched it. One important message that I got after watching this film is, do not be too arrogant. One day, you will be defeat by someone who seems inferior to you.

Teaching a Mad King
A mad king? How can a madman become a king? Well that is what happened in King Lear, a play wrote by William Shakespeare. Well everybody knows that it is not easy to learn Shakespeare text.
Who actually the mad king? Of course Lear himself. The tragic hero of the play. He went mad when his daughter whom he valued based on their flattery. When the turn their back and against him, he couldn’t accept it and become mad in the middle of the storm.
Who taught this mad king? A FOOL. Not an ordinary fool, but a thinking fool. Unlike any ordinary fool, Fool educates Lear in different ways. Through his songs and riddles, Fool actually is trying to tell and teach something to his master. A thinking fool, I could say.
Well, although this play turn to be tragic at the end and the fate of Fool is never known (he disappear after the storm), we should value Fool for his attempt to teach Lear to be a wise ruler of a kingdom. Instead of being “a foolish, old man”.

The Privilege of Being Blind
You are born as male. You grow up as normal. One fine day, you saw two snakes mating. Cursed. Turn into woman. You got married, have a child. Saw another snakes mating. Turn back as male. When Zeus and Hera asked, who enjoy sexual intercourse more, the answer is woman. Cursed again. Now, you are blind. Zeus cannot help you to undo the curse, so you are given a prophecy. And become a BLIND PROPHET. (This is just a version of many versions about Tiresias). Are you happy?
That’s the life of Tiresias. A blind prophet. Is it a gift or a curse? You are blind, yet you have extra ability. You can predict what will happen. Plus, you are a prophet. Are you happy?
Actually, it is not a matter of being happy or not. Although Tiresias is blind, yet he is still a prophet. He enjoyed and had experiences being male and female. This what make him different from the others. And maybe that’s why he was sent to Oedipus and Creon.
In ‘Antigone’, Tiresias came at his own will, warns Creon for what Creon has done.
He is devoted in his job. There is no doubt that he is the perfect man to be a prophet, due to what he had gone true. Although both Oedipus and Creon does not like him and rejected him, he had done his job to tell the truth.
That’s it. Life of a blind prophet. Colourful and fancy. Rejected. TIRESIAS, THE BLIND PROPHET. :)

Shakespeare Wallah!!!
What a title. What does it mean? Well, this film actually does not make any sense for me (frankly). The purpose of watching it? Because Dr. Edwin asked us to watch it. Well, at least I still can get the gist of the story.
It is about film versus theatre. During that time, the emergence of film really took over theatre. The popularity of the film actress overlapped the popularity of theatre players. If we look at the reality of life, that is what actually happen.
Even in Malaysia, we praised, worshipped the film actors and actress more than the theatre players. Although we know how hard they work for a theatre compared to a film. We know about it, yet we still prefer to go for film instead of theatre. Why? I had explained it in my first post. Boring, unaffordable tickets, bla, bla, bla…
However, Puteri Gunung Ledang the Musical had done a marvellous job. It had mesmerised Malaysian to watch it again and again. The latest news I heard, there is a man who watch it four times!!!! He must be a rich man. I don’t think that I can do it because of the price of the tickets. Once is enough, to make sure the momentum does not fall down and the excitement does not fly away.
Again, in my opinion theatre players are much better than film actors and actress. Give some credit to them while they are still alive.

Reduced Shakespeare Company???
Watching all plays written by Shakespeare in two hours? Wow, it is amazing how if we can do it. Well, we did it two weeks ago. How? Well, Dr. Edwin asked us to watch the CD of Reduced Shakespeare Company.
At first, I don’t have any idea how it is going to be presented to us. Actually, it is a theatre which had been taped. What impressed me the most when watching this play is that the energy that the actors have. All four of them are really professional actors. They must have put all of their energy and effort to make it happen. They have to memorise all the lines that they must speak during the play.
Indirectly, this play gives me better understanding about Shakespeare’s plays. Almost everybody agree that learning a Shakespeare play will bore us to death. The most difficult part is the language. Do you dare to speak in Shakespeare language in everyday life? Of course everybody will say “What on the earth are you trying to tell me???”
The best way to present, teach and learn Shakespeare’s work is, of course, through the funny way. And that is what they did in Reduced Shakespeare Company.

How to teach drama...?
Well, although we will not teach any kinds of drama to our students, we still need to learn how to teach it. In case, there are students who will take English Literature. (Does that kind of subject exist in SPM now?) However, it is still helpful because we may want to introduce drama to our students for English Language Society. We also may want them to perform it at school. Maybe during PTA’s meeting, sports day (?), teacher’s day, or any other events.
Well, it is not that bad, until you have to do simulated teaching. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It is the time for us to laugh at other people’s presentation. And as the result, people will laugh at you too. Not that bad huh! What you give you get back…
Well, (another well) when we do simulated teaching, then we will know how it feels to be like a real teacher. If you a kind of person who is a stage fright, please overcome it, as soon as possible (this message is for me too!). You have to make sure that your instructions are clear enough for the students to understand. No joke okay. If you yourself do not know what you are doing at the moment, you will be in a great trouble. As a teacher, you need to make sure that you are prepared with whatever kind of question that your students will ask.
Another important thing, we also need to use the right set induction to make our lesson as appealing as ever. Then only our students will be interested and pay attention to what we are talking about.
So my friends, make sure for those have not done their simulated teaching, please make it well (another message for me too). Not only to score good mark, but also to prepare ourselves when we go out for practicum and work. Good Luck!

Puteri Gunung Ledang-the musical
The legendary about Malacca’s famous warrior is very close to us. Especially to Malays. But it does not mean that other races do not know about it. Now, at Istana Budaya, there is a theater entitled, PUTERI GUNUNG LEDANG- the Musical.
How does Puteri Gunung Ledang is related with Hang Tuah. Well, is this theatre, the princess is deeply in love with this Malay warrior. Actually, according to history, Puteri Gunung Ledang NEVER falls in love or has any kind of relationship with the admiral. It is just a story…
It is not bad to watch it, as this is the first time I watch theatre. What’s more at ISTANA BUDAYA!!! Well, that is impressing. I never imagined that I will go there.
Talking about the play, let’s see whether it satisfies the characteristics of a good play.
1. Does the play satisfy our intellect?
Well, maybe we should think again about sacrifices that we did to our loved ones. Does it worth?
2. Does it show organization?
Very well, organized!
3. Does the play show the ideational content?
Well, my first reaction after watching this play is, is it a tragic ply? Well, it is. Because Gusti Putri Retno Dumilah chooses to sail to Malacca to meet her loved one. The tragedy happens because if her free will.
4. Is the play meaningful to us?
Certainly it deals with our everyday live!! No question.
5. Does the play have economy, novelty and impact?
A 2 hours and 15v minutes play, it can be considered ok. Just like you watch film at cinema. But watching theatre enable you to see life performance. The price? Hmm.. I only pay RM15.00, (the actual price is around RM 150.00) only 10% from the actual price.
As the conclusion, it is worth to watch it. It is a great loss for those who do not watch it!!!

Reading Literature: Different World View
There is a Malay proverb said that ‘the more you travel, the wider knowledge you get’. Well, that is true. But what about those people who cannot afford to go travelling? Are they as just dumb as a frog under the coconut shell?
The proverb is somehow argumentative. To get wider knowledge actually does not require you to travel a lot. Especially nowadays you can get the feeling to be at the place that you wish to just by clicking the Internet. Of course the feeling is not the same but the knowledge, yes, almost the same. And sometimes, better. But hey, there is another way to get and feel the experience. You can start reading.
Not all kinds of reading material can help you improve your knowledge. Especially those magazines that does not develop your mind. So, reading literature books might help you. What??? Literature book? How bored is it, don’t you know? How difficult to read between those lines, you have to interpret it. Bla, bla, bla…
Reading literature books are not as difficult as what many people think. The main point is not to understand the underlying meaning of the text first. But to enjoy the reading it self. Reading literature books enables you to explore the outer world just like those people who can afford to go travelling. It is easy too. You do not have to pack your bags, get the passport done, thinking what kind of food you might be served, what size of bed will you lay on…. You just need money and some determination to go to the bookstore and buy the books that you wish to. You can even read the classical fairy tales like from Hans Christian Anderson. You will never too old to enjoy those fairy tales.
So you people, what are you waiting for? Start reading now. If you do not have enough money to buy it, you can borrow it from library or even read it at the bookstore itself, like at MPH or Borders. My literature book is calling me now. I am going to read A Street Car Named Desire by Tennessee William. I am sure it will be a great experience!

Antigone: A Feminist Text?
Among the three Theban plays, Antigne was the earliest being wrote by Sophocles. But somehow, it becomes the last of three being on stage. Basically, Antione is a play about Antigone’s heroic action, going against his uncle, Creon. Creon’s edict not to bury Polynices develops the conflict. It also arouses Antigone’s anger because she believes that man’s law should not go against God’s law. And in this play, Creon’s order many lead to God’s anger because to let a body rotten and unburied is offending God.
Portraying Antigone as the hero or main character in this play somehow made this play looks like a feminist text. Feminist text, points out alternative feminine characteristics suggested usually by women authors.
In a male dominated world, Antigone’s brave action wins many people’s heart. She also inspires people to go against authority. Antigone herself, not only against her own blood, but also the ruler of the city. She might not be the hero of this play (which named after her) if Oedipus decide not to curse his own sons in Oedipus at Colonus’ play.
Nevertheless, it is not wrong to have a female character to dominate and play the most important role in a play. It is not suppose to offend anybody. It is just a play, that may inspire thousand people.

She might not be the hero of this play (which named after her) if Oedipus decide not to curse his own sons in Oedipus at Colonus’ play.
Nevertheless, it is not wrong to have a female character to dominate and play the most important role in a play. It is not suppose to offend anybody. It is just a play, that may inspire thousand people.

Tragedy or Fatality?
It is raining. An old man walks hurriedly towards a big tree to get a shelter. Thunder and lightning. Suddenly thunder strikes the tree. The tree fall down and hit the old man. Die.
For many people, what had happened above is a tragedy. However, for many scholars, it is not a tragedy, it is fatality. What's the difference between this two terms?
According to Aristotle, tragedy is (a drama) 'treating a serious subject and involoving persons to significance'. So, attending a serious course that makes you spent lots of money, time and energy, is it a tragedy?
Two main ingredients need to be considered when we want to label something as a trgedy. First, statement of human fallability. Fall, errors, mistakes. Being an immortal, we cannot escape from this situation. An example from Sophocles' Trilogy of Oedipus. The unlucky Oedipus tries to run away from his fate. However, everytime he tries to run away from it, he become closer to it. Second, reversal of fortune. Saddam Hussien is an example of a leader who was exile from his palace. Once he is a leader of Iraq, now he is a prisoner.
Anyway, it is not the end of the world. Fatality or tragedy, we still have to live this life. Tsunami at Acheh, typhoon Katrina at New Orleans. Fatality of tragedy? You determine it.

Wanna Watch Theatre? Read This First…
At Malaysia, when people talk about theatre, there are several things that come across their minds. A group pf actor and actress acting on the stage, closed place, formal attire (especially at Istana Budaya… opps, sorry!), cannot-afford ticket and most importantly… boring!
When we look back during Greek period, especially for Athenians, theatre served as an expression of public unity. It is attended by all men. To attend the theater, then, was a religious duty and the responsibility of all pious citizens. Theatre then, served as a celebration of God, during The Festival of Dionysus a ritual to honor the god of wine and fertility and to ask his blessing on the land.
Coming back to reality, especially for Malaysian, there is nothing to scare about watching theatre. It is meant for all; just choose any kinds of theatre. From tragic tragedy, funny comedy or lovely love stories, everything is just in your hands. It is all there to serve for your appetite. Like watching movies at cinemas, it can be a therapy for anybody, even for kids. Unlike watching movies at cinemas, theatre allows you to see real man, physically, in front of you, acting. To increase your excitement, certain theatre also allows you to take part in the play itself! How fun isn’t it?
So allow me to welcome you to the theatre. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!
